WE HAVE A BRAND NEW LOCATION THIS YEAR......(a big gym with a good wooden floor and lots of lights!!!) at Cross Keys High School.
Date and Hours
Feb. 4-6, 2005
Gym hours are:
Shows
Saturday: 11 AM -- Georgia State Yo-yo Championship
Saturday: 2 PM -- Juggling Competition
Saturday 10:30 PM -- Fire and Light Extravaganza
Saturday: 11 PM -- Late Night Cabaret
(Note: There is no public show on Sunday this year, but we will hold informal public workshops on Sunday. The public is invited to watch the activities in the gym anytime.)
Competition for the famous PHIL award happens Saturday at 2 PM. The Seed and Feed Marching Abominable band will open the show. Registered jugglers will have a chance to win some great door prizes during the competition. Rules for the competition are simple -- each competitor has four minutes, anything goes (except no fire in the show this year because our insurance and the school won't allow it inside the gym). We'll give a 30-second warning if wanted. Cost is $1 to sign up for the competition. See the list of past PHIL winners.
The Late Night Cabaret will be Saturday night at 11 PM at the Horizon Theater in the Little Five Points Community Center at 1083 Austin Ave., Atlanta 30307. Here's a map. The DeLuxe Vaudeville Orchestra will provide music and entertainment. Any other interested parties who want to perform or MC this event please let us know when you register. Here's a note giving more details of the theater and show for those interested in performing at the cabaret.
The Fire and Light Extravaganza happens at 10:30 PM in the parking lot of the Little Five Points Community Center. Bring your fire and light props and come play before the late night cabaret begins. (weather permitting)
If you know how to juggle and want to pick up a few new tricks or would just like to watch or want to learn how to juggle, come by and check out the fun. Ask at the registration table in the lobby if you'd like a free juggling lesson. We're always happy to teach others.
On Saturday and Sunday afternoon several workshops will be hosted by AJA club members and guests. If there's something you want to learn, just ask at the registration table and we'll find someone to teach an impromptu workshop.
